Norfolk Spinach
3,55 $
This spinach variety is very rare. It comes from a convent, the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul in Kingston, ON. These sisters grew over 400 different cultivars of vegetables, fruits, and herbs. They're offered us some treasures that have been grown for over a century. Some of their seed packages were even written using a typewriter. For more information, visit Le Potager d'Antan (in French): https://potagersdantan.com/2011/01/06/lepinard-norfolk/ Package: 130 seeds

Peter Pepper
3,55 $
Your eyes aren't playing tricks on you, this pepper does look like a part of male anatomy. The exact origin of this pepper is unknown, but it probably comes from Louisiane or Texas in the U.S.A., or from Mexico. Its popularity is allegedly due to Frank X. Tolbert (1912-1984), a Texan journalist and historian working for the Dallas Morning News (between 1946 and 1984) for which he wrote chronicles about rather unusual local news. There are different versions of this pepper, some are red, others are orange or yellow (quite rare). Ours are red. They rank on average at 16,500 on the Scoville scale, meaning they are spicy, but also delicious dehydrated or cooked. Its shape won't go unnoticed, and it is easy to grow in pots for example for grandma's balcony. It can also be included in gorilla gardening project to make the neighbors chuckle. Life is too short to not enjoy it.   Package: Around 20 seeds

Red Oak Leaf Lettuce

Good looking lettuce, savory and decorative. Its leaves are defined and lobed. This lettuce is resistant to going up into seeds. The leaves can be harvested at their base while leaving its heart intact. This way, you may extend the harvesting window as new leaves will keep growing. You can otherwise wait for maturity and harvest the head all at once. Its leaves measure approximatively 15 cm ( 6 inches) and are can be preserved well in the fridge.

Strawberry blite
3,55 $
Native to North America. The strawberry blite is one of those forgotten vegetables that are making a strong comeback to our gardens. It is grown both for its leaves that can be eaten raw in a salad or steamed, and for its red berries. Although, do not be mistaken: despite their appearance and the name, these berries taste more like beets than strawberries. The fruit should be eaten in moderate quantities as the seeds contains some toxic compounds. The fruits were also used by Native Americans to make a red dye. Package: 50 seeds

Tetragon
3,55 $
Tetragon is usually grown for its leaves, which can be added in salads or cooked. Thanks to its ability to withstand difficult climates, this plant grows readily in the wild in China, Reunion Island, and New Zealand. It is also fairly easy to grow in Quebec, but it will behave as an annual since it cannot tolerate frost. Held up by a round stem, tetragon has a really unique look with its thick leaves and quadrangular fruits. Good source of vitamin B1, B2 and C; the New Zealand spinach is both delicious and nutritious! Package: 20 seeds Germination rate: 89%

Thibodeau du comté de Beauce Bean
3,55 $

Old dwarf cultivar from Beauce, Quebec. Its green pods are covered with purple stripes. It can be eaten as green or dry beans. According to many, they're the best choice to make baked beans (fèves au lard). However, Boucher Family bean fans disagree. The solution? Mix 'em both! Beauce territory was originally occupied by the Iroquoian Nation of the Saint-Lawrence. It is therefore a possibility that this bean comes from a variety that they were growing. With the arrival of the first Colonizers many trades happened, among which beans were handed to the newcomers. With this gift, they then continued selection over many years to create different varieties. This variety, Thibodeau du comté Beauce, was found by Mr Marc Warsha. He was given the seeds by Mr Martin Roy from St-Zacharie, in Beauce. The cultivation of this bean had been carried for 4 generations, starting with the great-great-grandmother of Martin Roy, as far as we can trace back. The name, Thibodeau du comté Beauce, was first listed in the Seed of Diversity catalogue in 2003. Package: 30 seeds
