Perennial plant originally from the Mediterranean basin (potentially from Egypt), naturalized all over Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.
If the name includes the word ‘cat’, it is because this plant induces a strong reaction in most of those domesticated felines. They become euphoric and very excited; they will start rolling and sniffing around, and will do many other funny things.
For humans, catnip is instead used to soothe pain and unrest. It is also relevant to mention that, before the British Empire discovered tea in its Chinese colonies, infused catnip was a favorite for the royal court.
*This year, we were not able to harvest sufficient catnip seeds. Therefore, our seeds come from Jardin Vie-La-Joie.
Package: 150 seeds (Germination is slow and sporadic, sow more than you need to obtain enough seedlings.)

Also called Gombo, this plant produces a fruit that can be eaten raw or cooked, with a taste somewhat similar to eggplant. Young leaves can replace spinach. In some countries, the mature seeds are roasted and used as coffee beans. A member of the hibiscus family (Okra latin name is Hibiscus esculentus), its flower is one of the most beautiful in the garden.
Originally from Africa, Okra entered Spain in the 8th Century with the moorish invasion. Later introduced in the United States by African slaves, it was considered for some time as poor people food. It is an essential ingredient in gumbo and is commonly used in Louisiana and Southern States cuisine.
