Mémé de Beauce Tomato
3,78 $
In 1995, a carpenter found a bag of about 200 seeds in the attic of an abandoned house, where no one had lived for several years already, in Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce. The neighbors claimed that this house hadn’t had any garden in well over 60 years. Mrs. Gérard Parent, to whom they were given, tried to get them to grow; only three germinated. From those three initial plants originate all the current Mémé de Beauce plants found in Quebec.

Latin name : Solanum lycopersicum
Family : Solanaceae
Habit: Indeterminate, can be tutored.
Size: 0.9 to 1.2 m in height, 0.45 m (if staked) to 0.60 m (growing freely) in width
Cultivation : Sow indoors from mid-March until early April at a depth of 5 mm. Should take 7 to 10 days to germinate.
Gradually harden off your seedlings to outdoor conditions about 10 days before transplanting by taking them outside during daytime. When transplanting, lay the plant down and slightly curve it up so that the leafy part sticks out and up; new roots will grow from the buried stem.
Can be transplanted outside after the last frost. Water abundantly after transplanting.
Should yield fruits after 85 to 100 days.
Soil: Well-drained, rich
Exposure: Full sun
