Wild shrubby variety from the Tabasco state, in South-Eastern Mexico. This pepper is very small, red, and slightly elongated. About 5 to 8 times stronger than Jalapeno peppers, it ranks between 50 to 70 000 units on the Scoville scale. They are therefore very spicy, on top of their sweet and fruity taste - ideal for those used to spiciness that are seeking to discover new flavors. In sauces, salsas, or dried and ground up they will nicely spice up many different types of meals.
Rare and sometimes mistaken with its rounder cousin, the Tepin pepper.

The Jimmy Nardello peppers come from the Basilicata region in the south of Italy. This region has had a rich and diverse pepper culture for generations. The Jimmy Nardello first came to life in Giuseppe and Angella Nardello's garden in the 19th century. They emigrated to Connecticut in 1887, along with all of they children, and brought with them the seeds of this long and thin-skinned red pepper.
According to the story, their 4th child, Jimmy Nardello, became a passionated gardener. He kept on cultivating the family seeds which his parents had preserved all their lives. Shortly before his death, in 1983, he donated his seeds to Seed Savers Exchange and they quickly became famous amongst the farming community.
The Jimmy Nardello pepper is considered on of the best peppers to be fried because its flesh becomes tender and sweet. It is also delicious eaten fresh but can be dried as well. Upon maturity, it presents a deep red color, an elongated form and tends to twirls as it grows.

This variety comes from Curico in Chile. Many believe that the fruit has its peak flavor before reaching maturity. We can therefore harvest the peppers before they are fully ripe which increases the plant's productivity, making it one of the most productive variety there is. The young fruits are a pale yellow-green, which turn red-orange as they ripen. Their taste recalls citrus. 30 000 on the Scoville scale.

Your eyes aren't playing tricks on you, this pepper does look like a part of male anatomy.
The exact origin of this pepper is unknown, but it probably comes from Louisiane or Texas in the U.S.A., or from Mexico. Its popularity is allegedly due to Frank X. Tolbert (1912-1984), a Texan journalist and historian working for the Dallas Morning News (between 1946 and 1984) for which he wrote chronicles about rather unusual local news.
There are different versions of this pepper, some are red, others are orange or yellow (quite rare). Ours are red.
They rank on average at 16,500 on the Scoville scale, meaning they are spicy, but also delicious dehydrated or cooked.
Its shape won't go unnoticed, and it is easy to grow in pots for example for grandma's balcony. It can also be included in gorilla gardening project to make the neighbors chuckle.
Life is too short to not enjoy it.

The Magnum Habanero peppers are bright orange and among the spiciest in the world, ranking between 100,000 and 350,000 on the Scoville scale. This pepper variety originally comes from Japan. It gives a bountiful harvest of small wrinkled fruits, about 10 cm in length. Very productive, it will yield at least 25 peppers per plant. The red peppers (when ripe) are equally delicious if eaten earlier, when they are still green. They are mild and sweet but can be bit spicy, especially if dried. Compact plant, ideal for small gardens.

The Peri-Peri pepper was introduced from Central America to the rest of the world, and especially in Africa, by Portuguese explorers. Nowadays, this pepper is widely used in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in Portugal, in Brazil and in Angola as piri-piri. 'Pili-pili' is the name given to the pepper in Bantu languages, for example in Lingala in Congo and many other Subsaharan languages. Very tiny, fine and pointy fruits, they are also very spicy. Can be harvested as soon as it turns bright red, and eaten fresh or dried.
